I was immediately and uncermonously kicked from my computer. With a lot of head shaking he moved things around asking in disbelief "WHY DID YOU DO XYZ?" With XYZ being my every attempt to make it interesting or pretty. And in the end he came up with this. And by comparison my cover that I was so proud of looks like the cover of a 1970s porno.
So yes, I have been shamed muchly and put into my place. I'll leave the book cover design to the professionals and I'll keep writing.
My brother designs CD covers and does my book covers for me. But that doesn't mean I can't try. I fiddle with Photoshop and as time passes my skill increases and I pick up a lot from watching him.
However, there is a certain eye for art you just have to have, which I don't. Because I made this cover and I was so proud I was practically doing backflips.
I excitedly showed all my friends, and they'd scratch their chin, and narrow their brows and the most they could say about my wonderful vision was, "But there are five cards...". Even then I didn't take it as a hint.
Then my brother saw what I was doing...
I know I've been gone for what seems like centuries, but I'm back, with my newest release. The Mercenary. I love all my babies but I'm particularly proud of this one. I love the characters and how they play off each other. Here's the synopsis:
Brendan simply wanted to earn enough coin to buy his sister's freedom. And after a long, bloody war, he had succeeded. Now with the wealth of a paid soldier he heads home to the East, but before he can leave a jewel in the sand catches his eye.

Lorne sat huddles in a cage, unsure of where his family was. Maybe they got out of the city in time, maybe they didn't. Whatever happened he knew he'd never see them again. He was a slave now, and everything he loved, was gone.
